DRDO on Monday achieved another milestone by conducting successful flight test of ABHYAS high speed expendable aerial target from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur in Odisha. According to Defence Ministry release, The trial of ABHYAS which was carried by DRDO was tracked by various radars and electro optic systems and it successfully proved its performance in fully autonomous way point navigation mode.
- ABHYAS is high speed expendable aerial target built by DRDO and is used by Indian Armed Forces for simulating different types of aircraft and missiles.
- ABHYAS is equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS), On board flight control and miss distance indicator.
- ABHYAS can be successfully launched from a mobile launcher by using two 68 mm booster rockets.
- ABHYAS can carry autonomous flight with the help of Autopilot.
