Apple to start manufacturing newer Apple iPhones in India

The world’s largest manufacturer of Apple iphones Foxconn has decided to start mass production of newer Apple iphones in India. Foxconn is world’s largest provider of Electronics manufacturing services. Products manufactured by Foxconn include iphone, ipad, ipod, kindle, Nintendo 3DS, Xiaomi devices, Play station 3, Play station 4, Xbox 360, Xbox one and many other different products.

Foxconn chairman Terry Gou recently told Bloomberg that Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited him to start electronics manufacturing in India. Further Terry Gou told in statement that they are ready to produce newer Apple iphones in India. He also added that the manufacturing of newer Apple iphones will be done in Southern city of Chennai. Currently Apple is manufacturing older iphones in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

In this month Foxconn will start trials of producing Apple iphone X and Apple iphone 7 in India. At initial stage Foxconn is planning to invest $300 million in India for production of Apple iphones. Currently Foxconn is manufacturing Xiaomi and Nokia devices in India.

Due to manufacturing of newer Apple iphones in India the Apple iphones will become 20% cheaper as there will be no import duties of 20% levied on Apple iphones. The other benefits for India are Job creation and increase smart phone exports.
