Exciting weekend Saturday ended with Mumbai Indians beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 40 runs. In a low scoring match where Rohit Sharma and team were put to bat first by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar scored 136 runs in 20 overs. A poor start from the MI openers led to early downfall. They had managed just 97 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 18 overs. But the West indian power Kieron Pollard managed to get in his zone scoring 46 runs of just 26 deliveries with 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a flyer again with their openers managing yet another good start to chase down 137. Mumbai Indians bounced back by removing Bairstow and Warner in a quick succession. Rahul Chahar and Alzarri Joseph dismissed the most successful opening pair of vivo IPL 2019 to keep up their hopes of winning.
Alzarri Joseph, the young 22 year old West Indian bowler made a dream debut by a 6 wicket haul. A record breaking spell of 6/12 in 3.4 overs led MI to win the match by 40 runs. He topped the list of best bowling figures on his debut beating the previous record of 6/14 from Sohail Tanvir in 2008. This spell led SRH to record their lowest IPL score of 96. The young bowler looked impressive in his first match and was awarded man of the match. “It is a dream, couldn’t have asked for a better start” quoted Alzarri Joseph on winning MOM.
